‘The nearest thing to a magic wand in education is a good Headteacher’. Sir Keith Joseph said this when he was Secretary of State for Education in the 1980s. He was right. We do everything in our power to recruit outstanding men and women to lead our schools. Great Headteachers are always individuals. They have the clarity of mind and the common sense to see through the many ridiculous initiatives which have undermined education in so many schools, state and private.
